How to Stop Worrying and Start Living – Rule #22

As an exercise I will post each day one of Dale Carnegie’s How to Stop Worrying and Start Living rules. This book was written in the 30s and is still of great popularity. The book offers a set of practical formulas to help overcome worry which are said to last a lifetime.

Hope you’ll enjoy it and get some worry less enlightenment.

Rule #22 Rest before you get tired.

So how do we rest and where do we start? Do we rest our mind, body or nerves? We always begin to relax with our muscles. Let’s give it a try after reading this post.

Lean back, close your eyes and say to your eyes silently:

“Let go. Let go. Stop straining. Stop frowning. Let go. Let go.”

Repeat this over and over for about one minute. Did you notice how after a few seconds the muscles started to listen? Did you notice how after repeating the mantra a few times, the tension appeared to be wiped away by a magic hand? This is relaxation.

You can do the same thing with other parts of your face and body, but the most important part are the eyes. Try to have a rest at least five times a day anywhere you are.
